Sri Lanka’s largest telco has purchased 26 percent of Ardent Capital’s portfolio company, Anything.lk, at a valuation of US$6.1 million.Dialog Axiata PLC, Sri Lanka’s biggest telecommunications company, has just bought 26 percent of Ardent Capital‘s portfolio company, Anything.lk for US$1.59 million. The investment values the e-commerce company at around US$6.1 million.
Other than offering deals, Anything.lk has also diversified into e-commerce, events and travel with special categories for amanté Lingerie, Litro gas and Norfolk. According to this article, Anything.lk controls about 90 percent of the Sri Lanka’s daily deals market with an email database of over 280,000, more than 185,000 Facebook fans, 30,000 regular buyers and over 60,000 deals sold to date. This was all done with a staff of over 50 people.
Dialog will look to merge Anything.lk with its own e-commerce portals into an aggregated and unified e-commerce platform, WoW.lk. Dialog’s existing e-commerce portals are online mall iBuy.lk, trading portal Tradenet.lk and classified site myTrader.lk.
Ardent Capital is co-founded by Adrian Vanzyl, Paul Srivorakul, Piers Bennett and John Srivorakul and invests primarily in Southeast Asia. Adrian and Paul were speakers at e27′s recent Echelon Ignite event in Thailand.
