Profeel.me is your digital business card, incorporating feeds from your social networks, and exchanged through text, IM and other popular networks.Even with digital means of communication having far surpassed phone calls, physical meet-ups and even the actual handshake, business cards (also known as name cards or calling cards) are still an essential tool in marketing oneself. This is because long after you’ve met with someone, that business card will serve as a reminder of your meeting and the circumstances behind it.
But taking the concept of the business card beyond 2″ x 3″ pieces of paper, South Korean startup Venster has created an online version of the business card, complete with information from a user’s social networks. With the service Profeel.me — or “Profile Me” — users can create their virtual ID tag or calling card.
The app is straightforward. Simply link up with Facebook and Profeel.me will pull your basic information, including your name, photo and email address. You are then asked to key in a short introduction. You can then edit your profile afterwards with your contact number, address and links to social networks.
What’s interesting is that Profeel.me can also pull your news feed from various sources, which can add some context into your profile. Your digital business card can then be shared through text messaging, email, LINE, Kakao Talk, Facebook, and Twitter. The only limitation at this point, as I see it, is that Profeel.me is in Korean, which could limit its potential international audience. But there’s always Google Translate if you want to try the app.
Mobile apps are available for iOS and Android. Check out my profile at profeel.me/jangelo.
