We were tipped of about this partnership since the end of last year, and it seems Indonesian game outfit Agate Studio and EA’s Chilingo have launched their partnership. Now the Indonesian game developer is ready to release its first game, published by the premier game publisher. “Up in Flames” is set to launch in the first week of March.

The arcade-and-puzzle type of game was developed for the iOS platform, particularly on the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. UK’s Chilingo specializes in digital distribution across multiple platforms, and has previously published games for iOS, Wii, PSP Mini and Xbox arcade.

Widely known for such award-winning iPhone and iPad games like Angry Birds, Anomaly, Contre Jour, Cut the Rope, Feed Me Oil, Pixel People and more, Chilingo is part of Electronic Arts (EA), after the American developer and publisher acquired it in 2011.

Agate, based in the capital city of West Java province, was established by 18 founders in 2009, most of whom were still studying at college during that time. Today, the team has successfully emerged as one of the leading game companies in the country, staffed by more than 70 employees.

Initially, their games were intended for the foreign market, but upon partnering with Nokia Indonesia, they started developing their own games for local users, such as “Football Saga” and ”Valthirian Arc.”

More than 120 offline and online games have been developed thus far, mostly focusing on the social and action genres. The team can produce a game in a month’s time with their current manpower. As of writing, Football Saga 2 is their most recent game available for play, launched just a few months ago.
