I do like to practice a lot of social media networking strategies, but what is it that really makes all that time and effort posting and sharing your content really effective? Social Media Karma! For those who not sure of what I mean by social media karma, here’s what it is:
You get what you give.
“In helping others, we shall help ourselves, for whatever good we give out completes the circle and comes back to us.” —Flora Edwards
When you give good it comes back in surprising forms. You don’t always know how it will come back. I call it Social Media Karma which is a beauty.
In this article, I will share five ways of increasing your social media karma for your application; this is especially useful for entrepreneurs.
1) Show your true presence on social media
This is my predominant rule on Social Media Karma. What this means is that you are being real, authentic, and transparent of your beliefs in honest sharing and not for self promotion.
For business clarity for entrepreneurs, simple steps of be yourself will be do share of what you do, who do you help and results you have created for your target customer. For a relationship and trust to be developed online, you need to showcase yourself as a person and not as unknown persona.
2) Network and provide things without return
I am naturally more active in LinkedIn, as I found most of peers are more into exploring collaborations and looking for advice on how to increase their business karma. An example that I normally engaged and commenting and participate in a group called Small Business Online Community. By commenting and participating, rather than just being an observer online, I have generated Social Media Karma as below example illustrates.
Here’s a long thought of conversation which I have replied to more details.
Cut the long story short, this article which I have shared leads to lead interests and potential collaboration (which says, I am keen to work on a JV project with you), so the tip here if you give the right gift to the right people, you will have it reciprocated.
If you are not sure on what kind of networks you should participate in, do look for active groups related to your target markets and do make sure that it has the right fit which can benefit from your expertise and you don’t just sell yourself.
3) Be genuinely positive
Social networking in general tends to have a positive, upbeat tone to it, so when you are interacting with other people’s content or posting your own, you should do it with a really upbeat and friendly nature.
No one wants to read depressing posts or be interacted with negatively. The nice thing about social networking is that it’s really a great opportunity to uplift, encourage, motivate, and reinforce others achievements and accomplishments, so definitely make sure to chime in when you see great stuff happening for your friends and followers.
4) Be concern about others
The personal rule for any activity involving social media is simple. Whether it’s writing freelance blog posts or engaging in conversations on social media, my goal is to talk 80 percent of the time about other people. Ask questions, be involved, be genuine and above all, do not to talk about yourself first unless if people asked for it.
The funny thing is people will naturally ask about you, about what you do and THEN it’s a great time for me to talk about yourself.
5) Be grateful
Thank people for following you; thank them for sharing a post or commenting on an article. Thank them publicly and by their name. Appreciation makes people feel like you value their efforts and make them feel important. This will make them more likely to reach out to you again for your content. Check the thanks posting by Mari Smith to Anne Thundercloud.
As the man in the house says below, if you understand the right rules to follow, you will have right attitude to enhance your karma kindness. Not only do your actions online say a great deal about you but they also say a great deal about how you do business. If you are able to follow the above steps, you will be able to generate significant amount of Social Media Karma.
So readers do share your experience with Social Media Karma and how it works for you and your business.
