[Updated] TaxiMonger launches pilot test with AirAsia, booking app available via AirAsia Chrome app

TaxiMongerTaxiMonger, our Echelon 2012 alumnus, operates a taxi booking and review application based in Malaysia. Back in January, we reported that they might be in a partnership with AirAsia to make taxi booking easier for AirAsia users. Nizran Noordin, the cofounder of Taximonger has just informed us that the pilot project is up and running.

Update: The post has been updated to reflect its accuracy. We previously wrote that TaxiMonger entered into a partnership with AirAsia. The working relationship is currently still in its pilot.

“Since late January, we’ve collaborated with AirAsia in a pilot project whereby flight purchasers are able to book their airport transfers with TaxiMonger using their Chrome browser (only for flights out of Kuala Lumpur). As part of our promotional efforts for this project with AirAsia, TaxiMonger has came out with a special offer. Stand a chance to win a ride to LCCT in a luxurious Italian sports car when you purchase your flight ticket using AirAsia Chrome App and also book a taxi with TaxiMonger in that same purchase.”

Shortly after exhibiting at Echelon 2012, TaxiMonger was one of the four startups accepted into SeedStartup, a TechStar affiliated accelerator program in Dubai. Most recently too, TaxiMonger won the Best of Tourism & Hospitality category at Malaysia’s APICTA Awards 2012, a Malaysia award which recognises creativity, innovation, and excellence in Malaysian ICT.

    I’m Nizran, CEO of TaxiMonger. I’m perturbed by your immediate conclusion and defamatory remark that the article ‘is not true’. Subsequent to your comment, the title of the article has been amended to reflect the content (of the article) after the author has consulted my views. If you had read the article in its entirety, the content clearly mentioned that the project is still at pilot stage, hence proof of concept (POC).

    Such statement that the article ‘is not true’ is damaging to TaxiMonger. Your motive of making such allegation is questionable unless you had disclosed your true identity and the organization that you represent. Let’s maintain a healthy competition! The pie is big enough for everyone. :)

    This is an amazing development I feel, for TaxiMonger to partner in a pilot with Air Asia and I do hope it will not just be limited to Kuala Lumpur. Including Air Asia X, Air Asia flies to 88 destinations. The potential for TaxiMonger is limitless. All the best to them.
