500 Startups, a seed fund and accelerator based in Mountain View, California, has just announced their next Geeks on a Plane. They will be coming to Southeast Asia!By Jacky Yap 14 Mar, 2013
Geeks on a Plane is an invite-only tour for startups, investors, and executives to learn about burgeoning technology markets worldwide, and is organized by 500 Startups.
“Our geeks travel far and wide to seek out amazing international entrepreneurs and innovators of all kinds. During these trips, attendees gain new insights, meet new friends, and make business contacts from all over the globe. They also have a lot of FUN.” – 500 Startups
Taking place on the 1st to 15th June, Geeks on a Plane Southeast Asia will be making stops in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, and Jakarta. 500 Startups has been paying a lot of attention to Southeast Asia lately. On top of organizing GOAP to Southeast Asia, the accelerator also made a call early this March for more Southeast Asia entrepreneurs to be part of their four-month accelerator program in the coming summer.
According to the official 500 Startups announcement, Khailee Ng, who is the entrepreneur-in-residence for 500 Startups, and Dave McClure will be on the tour. Some of the other folks who were part of GOAP trips all over the world included representatives from Google, eBay, CNN, TechCrunch, Etsy, PayPal and SurveyMonkey.
For it’s Singapore stop, Geeks on a Plane will be coming to our annual flagship event Echelon, and we are really excited to be hosting the GOAP folks. As our Echelon strategic partner, GOAP will be checking out the participants at our Echelon Startup Marketplace, as well as to get the latest updates on recent trends and the various hot topics in Southeast Asia.
If you are interested to be part of the GOAP Southeast Asia tour, you can submit your application here and the team will be in touch if you are selected.
