Au revoir! France Singapore ICT Awards 2014 concludes

By

Digital media firm Hexaglobe and 3D nanofilm manufacturer Nanoveu are among the winners at the fifth France Singapore ICT Awards

Last Wednesday saw the conclusion of the 5th France Singapore ICT Awards, held at The Arts House, Singapore. Organised by UBIFRANCE and the French Chamber of Commerce in Singapore (FCCS), it attracted over 130 IT professionals globally. The event was held in conjunction with CommunicAsia and BroadcastAsia 2014, with more than 35 French companies showcasing their latest technologies and innovations.

According to FCCS, the goal of the Awards is to promote innovative digital technologies and solutions. The event saw both Southeast Asian and French players share their know-how and experiences, with 17 French and Singaporean companies applying in five different Award Categories. Candidates focussed mainly on OTT content delivery, multiscreen experience, catch-up TV, mobility, data mining, security, and video solutions.

The 18 applications were submitted to a jury panel, which comprised representatives from both the French and Singapore governments, as well as from large telco and broadcast operators. Among the jury members were CEO of IDA International Vincent Wong, French Conseil Superieur de l’Audiovisuel (CSA) member Franck Lebeugle, as well as e27′s very own editor, Surender Dhaleta.

Below are the winners of the France Singapore ICT Awards 2014, in each of the five award categories.

Netgem and DGCT-Quividi for the Most Innovative Telecom Solution

Hexaglobe for the Most Innovative Broadcast Solution

ATEME for the Greatest Potential in Asia

Nanoveu for the Most Innovative Consumer Solution

Thomson Video Networks for the Special Award in 2013: Best Singaporean and French Partnership

Below are some quotes from the winners:

Christophe Aulnette, CEO, Netgem:

It is always a pleasure to be awarded but even greater pleasure when it is about innovation, which is a core value of Netgem. Innovation is what keeps our competitive edge and help our customers deliver beyond their own consumers’ expectations in ever more competitive telecom and TV markets.

We will take this recognition as an additional incentive to address Asia Pacific market with even more confidence from our Singapore international business hub.

Laurent Fabri, CEO, DGCT-Quividi:

It is a great honour for Quividi to have won this award, showing this contribution in the innovative technology is at last being warmly recognised, especially in the telecommunication industry that has dramatically increased their quest in providing measurable customer experience in their own retail outlets and their B2B customers.

Digital Content Technologies and Quividi would like to thank the support of the judging panel and appreciate that they share this vision in bringing shoppers and out of home media analytic by using video-analytic and Big Data technologies.

Franck Coppola. CEO, Hexaglobe:

It is a great honour for Hexaglobe to have won this award, showing yet again the great market potential of its advanced replay technology. The broadcast market has been forever changed by OTT delivery and digital technologies and we are very pleased to be part of the change, providing our customers a live-to-file workflow, allowing them to be more efficient and to offer viewers novel ways to consume entertainment.

Hexaglobe would like to thank the judging panel, composed of broadcast and telecommunications professionals, for giving us this award. We are glad that our tools are regarded as an innovative solution for broadcasters to distribute the latest news and entertainment to consumers worldwide and on all screens.

Emmanuel Boureau, Vice-President Sales, ATEME:

We are honoured to receive this award for Greatest Potential in Asia. This award is recognition of ATEME’s real leadership in HEVC transcoders for connected TV services which is a major transition for our video broadcasting industry in the coming years.

Our soon to come introduction on the Euronext stock exchange market will enable us to transform this technical leadership in accelerated growth and increased market share.

Alfred Chong, CEO, Nanoveu:

We are honoured and delighted to receive the France Singapore ICT Award for the Most Innovative Consumer Solution for our EyeFly3D screen protector. It recognises the passion and dedication of our team at Nanoveu, and strengthens our confidence and commitment to seek new opportunities in Europe. We especially look forward to forming deep and lasting partnerships with companies in France, which we consider an exemplar of design and innovation.

Tony Berthaud, Director, Sales and Services, APAC, Thomson Video Networks:

We are delighted to receive this ICT award. It is a fantastic recognition of the collaboration between our two companies, which has contributed to the development of Thomson Video Networks in Asia Pacific and to the establishment of a strong organisation with six regional offices. We have been working together for the past 10 years and have seen success in a number of market segments such as satellite, broadcast and cable, as well as in newer markets such as WebTV.

More recently, Thomson Video Networks and Ideal Systems have extended their cooperation with the integration of two new technologies to deliver a unique hybrid MPEG/baseband play out solution. This shows what French high tech companies can achieve when they work closely with their Singaporean partners and customers: gaining a good understanding of local requirements and providing the perfect solution to match the expectations of the region.
