[Breaking] Moment.me secures funding from SingTel Innov8, will demonstrate live app at F1

By

moment.meMoment.me, an app that aggregates content from everyone at a single event and allows users to see a complete panoramic of what went down at that event, will be launching tomorrow at the Formula 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix.

Moment.me is a web and mobile app that aggregates event content into a single platform. Moment.me helps users save time and effort from manually organizing photos, videos and tweets, while providing them with the flexibility and convenience to use their favorite social networks to share their experiences.

Moment.me’s proprietary smart-matching technology aggregates photos, videos and tweets from various social networks and automatically organizes them according to specific events or experiences. Unique to the app is a location-based mechanism that allows users to discover and contribute to moments emerging around them in real-time.

Privacy settings top priority

According to Moment.me, the company’s smart-matching technology, called HintMachine, is the only tool that collects multiple points of view from different people and platforms and creates meaningful moments out of what are essentially out-of-context digital assets.

Moment.me only pulls content that you authorize. If you log into the app using Facebook Connect and authorize Moment.me access to your account, photos that you take at events will automatically be collected. These will be aggregated with other similar event photos using Moment.me’s proprietary smart-matching technology. While this might bring up some privacy issues, founder Ronny Elkayam told us that privacy is their utmost concern.

“A very important characteristics of Moment.me, is that the original privacy settings is kept – so for example, if you post a photo to facebook, and specify that it is for friends only, then on Moment.me only your friends can see it. This is not only to keep people’s privacy settings, its also to provide you with the best personalized view of a moment.”

Competitive advantage

When asked about competitors, founder Ronny shared confidently that they are ahead in the game.

“All competitors that are trying to build an event based photo gallery require you to post photos with their application. This means that you can enjoy the shared view only if all your friends post only with their app, such as Mobli, Flock or Color.”

Liveshare was also one of the few major players which allows groups to share photos seamlessly in one place, but pivoted into a social photo sharing app instead. “We do not need that, we use smart matching that includes image processing, contextual analysis, geo tags, time, tags and mentions to find the links between people and then to match their items,” adds Ronny.

Moment.me funded by SingTel Innov8, lands extra sweet deal

Founded by Ronny Elkayam, Boaz Adato and Eilon Tirosh, the New York-based startup took in US$1.5 million in seed funding from Blumberg Capital and other private investors back in May. On top of that, they have recently secured another round of funding from SingTel Innov8.

But other than the undisclosed amount, Moment.me also landed a sweet deal with SingTel.

In partnership with SingTel, the title sponsor of the 2012 Formula 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix, Moment.me will present its first real-time Moments on large screens at the Paddock Suite. The screening will illustrate how brands all over the globe can leverage this platform as an effective marketing tool to capture various spectators’ points-of-view and showcase the experience as it happens with friends around the world.

So if you are unable to join in all the action during Formula 1 this weekend, Moment.me provides you with the perfect platform to be updated in real-time on what is happening on the ground.
