Thai-based social network for the construction industry Builk is not one to shy away from going global
500 Startups, a US-based international accelerator programme, today announced that 30 startups have been selected to join it as Batch 007 secret agents. These 30 startups were picked out of some 1,300 submissions, according to TechCrunch.
Here are the 30 startups:
- Anyadir Education
- Bounty Hunter
- Carreira Beauty
- Sales Beach
Out of the 30, we spotted five startups who are from Asia. The five are: Anyadir Education, a mobile-based social recruitment platform based out of India and US; Bounty Hunter, a Taiwanese contest platform; Grata, an on-demand travel concierge service based out of China and the US; SilverPush, an Indian mobile retargeting solution; and Builk, a Thai-based professional social network for the construction industry.

e27 spoke to the founder of Builk, Patai Padungtin, to understand why he chose to accelerate his business with 500 Startups.
The Echelon 2012 winner said that he had actually wanted to join the next batch of 500 Startups, but gave in when he was told that he would be the only Southeast Asian startup present for batch seven.
Since the programme had already started a few weeks ago, Padungtin shared that he had already learnt a lot from peers and mentors.
He said, “There are still differences in culture, between here and Asia. 500 Startups for me is a good stamp. It certifies that I can be one of the startups that can go global.”
He also added that the extensive network present in 500 Startups is an additional reason why he joined.
