Burufly launches contest as it reaches one million users

Ever since its launch in November 2012 as a social travel site, Indonesia-based Burufly has grown to offer itineraries and travel suggestions for over 600,000 monthly visitors. Its user-generated content has grown to cover nearly every province in Indonesia, as well as other regions in Southeast Asia such as Thailand, Cambodia, and the Philippines.
Now, as its number of registered members grows to nearly a million, Burufly has launched a contest on its site, thanking users for their support. As part of the contest, Burufly will be choosing winners from five categories, each of which represents a particular type of social traveller. The five categories are shown below.
The popular traveler
This award is for the user with the most followers, one whom many other travellers go to for travel insights and tips. Every existing follower adds one point to the total score, and every new follower during the contest period adds five.
The visual traveler
This award is for the user who shares the most number of photos, showing other travellers what it’s like at their favourite destinations. Each existing photo displayed on Burufly adds a point to the score, and each photo newly uploaded during the contest period adds five.
The curious traveler
This award is for the inquisitive user who asks the most number of questions, finding out more about destinations all around Asia. Each question asked adds a point to the score, and each new question asked during the contest period adds five.
The exploring traveler
This award is for the user who has explored the most number of places, marked by adding a location to his or her pernah (Bahasa Indonesia for ever been) list. Each existing place on the pernah list adds a point to the score, and each new pernah added during the contest period adds five.
The inspiring traveler
This award is for the social butterfly who loves to share posts and photos with his or her friends, inspiring them towards carrying out their travel plans. Each photo shared adds a point to the score, and each new share during the contest period adds five.
The competition will run for two months, starting March 31, 2014.
Winners stand to win travel prizes that include getaways to a Bali luxury villa, a Tom Tom navigation system, Bliss Surfer hotel stays, and vouchers from Hotel Quickly.
