Gopher Indonesia is a digital advertising firm that helps small and medium enterprises reach out to customers online. How has it been doing?
In a move to scale, localise for Indonesia, and develop the digital advertising market in the largest Southeast Asian country for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), Gopher Indonesia has recently announced securing an investment from Ideoworks. The investment amount has not been disclosed.
Gopher Indonesia is a subsidiary of the Gopher Group, a digital advertising business that started in 2007. In the last six years, the overall company has been helping SMEs in New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Singapore, to get customers online.
The Indonesia-based branch has also been awarded the first official Google AdWords Premier Small Medium Business Partner for Indonesia. In 2013 alone, Gopher Indonesia has served more than 1000 SMEs in the country, and delivered more than 233 million ad impressions and 8.7 million leads, according to Talei Wood, COO, Gopher Group.
The investment in Gopher Indonesia is carried out together with Buzzworks, a sister company of Ideoworks that serves digital media placement.
Andi Boediman, Chairman, Ideoworks said, “With Google and Gopher Indonesia, we want to support Indonesian SMEs to harness the potential of the internet to grow their business both, within Indonesia and overseas, with ads in multiple languages. We target to empower 3,000 new Indonesian SMEs within three years.”
UPDATE: A spokesperson from Gopher Indonesia told e27 that many startups do not have a digital advertising campaign “efficient or effective enough to get the most (out) of their advertising budgets”. This inefficiency stems from having limited knowledge about the industry, and leads to entrepreneurs using ‘trial and error’ to deal with problems.
