inFamous: Second Son sells one million copies worldwide

First major PlayStation 4 release title in 2014 tops download charts on PlayStation Network within first nine days of launch

There’s still a lot of life in inFamous: Second Son post-game, like the six-week episodic content and the Paper Trail bonus mission. Image credit: Sony Computer Entertainment

We loved the action adventure sandbox title inFamous: Second Son, going far as to say that it goes beyond superheroics with its gameplay and next-generation graphics. Apparently a lot of you PlayStation 4 users love it too, as Sony Computer Entertainment has some good numbers-related news to share.

Sony sold over one million digital and physical copies of the first party action game all across the globe within the first nine days of its launch. The game is the most significant release of 2014 for the console, hence the high numbers within that short span of time and the fact that there isn’t anything else to play with that triple-A allure. Sony also mentioned that the game topped the download charts on PlayStation Network worldwide.

It’s still too early in the new console’s lifespan, but we do predict that the numbers for first-party consoles will get higher as more first-party games start rolling in. From a worldwide perspective, the post-apocalyptic action game The Last of Us sold 1.3 million copies within its first week of release last year, while third-person shooter Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception sold 3.8 million copies in its debut week. For now, Sony Computer Entertainment and developer Sucker Punch have a lot to cheer on about.
