LINE turns 3; surpasses 1 billion in combined downloads

LINE Camera has more than 90 million downloads. LINE POP? 43 million downloads

Happy birthday, LINE! The Japanese mobile platform turned three yesterday. In addition, it has today announced that the total number of worldwide downloads for all its 63 apps has topped one billion on June 21, 2014.

These apps include its flagship product LINE, a cross-platform chat messenger; LINE Camera, a photography and editing app; LINE POP, a game app; LINE Rangers, another popular game, and other services.

Currently, the chat app itself has grown to host 470 million users globally — a mere 30 million users away from hitting LINE CEO Akira Morikawa’s first goal of surpassing 500 million users by end-2014.

Aside from the main LINE app, a total of 14 other apps have topped 10 million downloads. According to an official statement, LINE Camera is leading with 90 million downloads, followed by LINE POP with 43 million downloads.
