PriceArea forays into online promotions aggregation in Indonesia

The promotion aggregation service launched by price comparison site, PriceArea will collect all promotion programmes from online sellers in Indonesia

Indonesia’s price comparison search engine, PriceArea has launched promotion aggregator services. The new service is called PriceArea Promo, which will collect all promotion programmes from all online sellers in Indonesia. The promotion includes discounts, clearance sale, instalment programmes, cashback programmes, free shipping, shopping voucher, coupon code, and gift promotion.

According to Andry Suhaili, CEO and Founder of PriceArea, this service will differentiate PriceArea from all the price comparison sites in Indonesia. “We launched this service after observing the online buying behaviour of people. Usually, the final purchase decision may not be solely on price, but people want to get the best deal,” said Suhaili in an exclusive interview with e27.

To start with, PriceArea Promo already has listed 4,464 promotions from 59 online stores in Indonesia. With Christmas and New year round the corner, online stores are jostling to attract the consumer attention and luring them with various promotions. PriceArea Year End special promo zone already includes 20 categories of promotion including gadgets, fashion, travel, restaurant with more than 50 per cent discounts from 38 online store in Indonesia. Suhaili said the service will become the website’s prime focus in 2014.

Grow more than 400% in 2013
PriceArea secured series B funding from Gree Ventures and So Net in 2012, the growth since then has been tremendous.It claims to have had a 400 per cent growth in terms of listed products – reaching 9.5 million listings. It also claims a 200 per cent growth in the number of sellers that reached 650,000 sellers. See table below:

Suhaili said the growth is in line with the company’s expansion in resources, such as number of employees rose from 9 to 22. PriceArea was launched in May 2010 as price comparison search engine with advertising as main source of revenue.
