The top three participants will win a total of S$24,000 (approx. US$19,200) in cash prizes, and will get an opportunity to participate in a three-month SingTel incubation programme that will help them fast-track their app to market.
The challenge will culminate into a Pitch Day on October 20, 2014, where participants will pitch their prototypes to a panel of judges comprising SingTel and Samsung executives.
One participant with an Android application will win a cash prize of S$7,500 (approx. US$6,000) and Samsung devices, and will represent Singapore in the SingTel Group-Samsung Regional Mobile App Challenge taking placing in November 2014. The winner of the regional challenge stands a chance to gain access to the SingTel Group’s over half a billion mobile customers.
For the first time, SingTel is releasing key APIs for developers to embed telco functionality within their apps which includes communication (SMS/MMS and location awareness) and payment (direct carrier billing and credit card) services. The participants are encouraged to use these APIs to make their apps more compelling to customers.
SingTel is a telecommunications company that provides ISP, IPTV, mobile phone, and fixed line telephony services.
