Top 5 business card scanner apps for iOS

Losing business cards translates to losing revenue for your business. CEOs and first-time directors need to store cards and the only way is to go paperless

Imagine having drawers stacked with business cards that you’ve collected over the years through meetings and rare corporate events.

And then one day, they go missing. Poof! Just like that, all the leads to your business vanished into thin air.
This could significantly hinder your startup from securing a client and drastically affect the overall success of your business.

We have a solution to ensure that your contacts are safely stored in one place. Put contacts in the cloud using apps that you can purchase or download free from the App Store.

There are several iPhone/iPad apps available online right now but we’ve shortlisted 5. Here’s our review.

scanbizcardsScan cards to your digital address book be it on your iPhone, iPad, Android or Outlook contacts. Review: The 3D swipe-view mode is really useful and the app claims to be able to translate up to 22 different languages, inclusive of the ones we have stated. We personally love this one because it scans smoothly without crashing; both front and back be it words, map or company logo. It’s simple and user-friendly. We’ve been using ScanBizCards for 2 months.
Rating: 4.5/5

Review: WorldCard Mobile accurately reads and sorts fax and mobile numbers, even when the cards contain labels in short-hand. User has the option of putting the cards in individual groups according to your preference. Sync your contacts to Google contacts and search for them through social media sites. This is a holistic app perfect for MNCs but might be unnecessarily complicated for startups or SMBs.
Rating: 4/5

cardsnapSnap and instantly load business cards into your iPhone address book. You can also save a copy in the app itself under ‘Cards’.

Compatibility: Requires iOS 3.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
Languages: English
Version: 2.1

Review: Although you just have to snap a picture of your business card and touch submit, the app requires 24 hours before the business card details are loaded into your address book. Also, only 6 fields are processed instead of 17. The fields processed with the lite edition are first name, last name, organization, email, work phone and fax number.
Rating: 2/5

business cardSnap a picture and have the data digitally extracted. The app will prompt if you’d like to sync it to your address book.

Compatibility: Requires iOS 3.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
Version: 1.0
Size: 3.5 MB
Languages: English
Price: $0.99
Review: Snap a picture of the business card and choose the fields for every data that has been extracted. You have the option to export it to your contacts or save it in the app’s address book. With that said, the app goes a little wonky; information displays a few characters with random symbols. The interface is complicated, which just makes the task of manually adding fields more cumbersome.

I’d rather use Bizcuit app, as it has made life easier instead of scanning business card one by one. see http://www.bizcuit.co
