Fighting game fans living in Asia can rejoice, for Capcom has announced the arcade release date for the upcoming Ultra Street Fighter IV.

According to an announcement by producer Yoshinori Ono (via Dengeki Online), the game will be out in Japan first on April 17, with other regions in Asia to follow. Reliable sources told e27 that Singapore arcade operators TKA Amusement would be bringing in eight Ultra Street Fighter IV arcade machines, though the exact date of their arrival isn’t confirmed. Whether all eight machines will be in TKA Amusement’s main outlet located at Bugis Junction or will be distributed to different TKA outlets still remains up in the air.

For those who aren’t up to speed, Ultra Street Fighter IV is the third major update to the original Street Fighter IV title. The game will feature five new characters with varying playstyles: Elena, Hugo, Rolento, Poison and Decapre. To shake things up, the big update will feature new fighting game mechanics such as the option to use two Ultra Moves instead of one for a fight, and the ability to use a powerful Red Focus Attack that absorbs an unlimited amount of hits when compared to the regular Focus Attack.

If you wish to play the game on Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles, you’ll have to wait until June to get your hands on it.
