It’s not often that a Director leaves a big game project midway. However, that’s the reality with the upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive Uncharted 4 as it lost its Game Director. Naughty Dog employee Justin Richmond, who previously served as a Game Director for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, will be jumping ship to League of Legends Creator Riot Games (via Games Industry International, who got confirmation from Sony Computer Entertainment).

“I love the company and the people and know that they will continue to create awesome games going forward. On a happier note, after careful consideration and exploration I have joined Riot Games. There is some really innovative stuff going on here that I can’t wait to be a part of,” said Richmond.

He was also responsible for overseeing the multiplayer component of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, which was said to set an excellent benchmark in competitive third-person shooting.

Will this affect Uncharted 4? According to SCE, “The development timeline of Uncharted will not be impacted.” The game was revealed last November and tailored to be a PlayStation 4 exclusive.

Former Naughty Dog Creative Director Amy Hennig also left the company early on. So that’s two major creative players out of the Uncharted 4 equation.
