It is Murphy’s Law that a gadget will develop problems the week after its warranty has expired. That leaves the consumer high and dry. Indian startup ZurePro may be the solution that awards third party extended warranty services for handheld devices (mobile and tablets) from the 13th month till the 24th month of the purchase date.
It also awards basic warranty on products, which do not have an Indian manufacturer’s warranty on it like mobiles/tablets purchased from abroad — which have an international warranty but not valid in India. Besides annual warranty packs, ZurePro also offers annual maintenance contracts.
“ZurePro works on a ‘no lemon policy’* where intermediaries like repairing personnel are completely abolished and customer will get a smooth warranty claim process,” says Mausumi Chakravorty, Co-Founder & Marketing Head, ZurePro.
Extended warranty packs can be purchased online on ZureProand or through retail channel partners. The price depends on the product — brand, model, item condition and purchase date. Subsequently, claims too can be filed online. However, the service is available only for first-hand products; and a warranty can be claimed only after expiry of manufacturer’s warranty.
ZurePro promises a doorstep pick and drop and seven days repair guarantee.
When it comes to selling the warranty packs, Zurepro has a hybrid model — both online and offline. “In ecommerce, we have a tie-up with iBhejo.com, which has integrated our warranty services in its website. Some sellers on Amazon and Junglee.com too offer extended warranty through ZurePro. On ground, we have around 50+ stores in Mumbai who are selling our warranties,” Chakravorty says.
ZurePro claims to have its own authorised repairing centres. “In future, we will be developing one of the finest and fastest in house repairing centres, which will enhance our productivity and bring the repairing time from seven days down to three days,” Chakravorty adds.
The story of ZurePro Chakravorty thinks that terms like ‘warranty’ and ‘repair’ have always being boring and clichéd, and her team wants to create a service that is “cooler and classy” and supported by “a good and robust branding and after sale services team.”
“We believe in a very interactive customer service and satisfaction is what we aim for. Conventional companies are lacking majorly on that with bad reviews and feedbacks. In our case, it’s different. From the pick-up man to the CEO of the company, all are personally connected with the customer. We work aggressively on feedbacks and reviews and constantly keep improvising,” she says.
ZurePro is a core team of six members apart from the salesmen, interns, creative, product development and tech team members. It claims to have run one of the largest internship programmes in the country recruiting around 100 students from all the major tech institutes in India. The company is completely bootstrapped, however, the founders are looking out for raising the first round of VC funding.
How does it compete?
ZurePro has many companies as close competition that are selling warranty services. However, Chakravorty believes that the company’s USP is its “young, skilful and creative team.”
There are many players offering extended warranty on almost all the electronic gadgets with a five day service guarantee.

Online portals like Flipkart and Infibeam also offer extended warranty on electronic gadgets through online registration. In order to stay ahead in this fiercely competitive scenario, ZurePro would have to aim at providing extended warranty for almost all the electronic products everywhere in India at the least possible time.
Stepping outside India
Chakravorty feels that Southeast Asia has a huge potential and the company has plans to go international very soon. “Once we go global, Southeast Asia would be our first priority,” says the Co-founder.
As of now, ZurePro is concentrating on extending its services beyond Mumbai to other Tier-1 & 2 cities in India. “We will be working with branded retail chains and major e-commerce sites that sell electronic goods to sell our warranty products, says Chakravorty.
The company also has plans to create an onground retail channel network in 300 cities in India. It also plans a full cover warranty pack that may be available by the end of this year.
