Three ideas will converge in this Social Good Summit Meetup in Manila: Innovation, Social Media and Social Good. The event is organized by and Tweetup Manila, and is an offshoot of the idea initiated by Mashable, which coincides with UN Week.

Similar local Meetups will be held worldwide. One of these will be the Social Good Summit Meetup in the South of the Philippines which is part of the Blog Weekend Bootcamp in Davao City.

“The event aims to bring together the country’s brightest minds and creative thinkers to come up with innovative new ways in which digital technologies like social media can be used to solve the world’s challenges and make this world a better place – and then translate these ideas to action.”

The Manila event will be split into two. The invite-only morning session will include 50 leaders and shakers who will answer the question “How can new media and technology create solutions in my community?” To this end, speakers from the media, government agencies and other citizen groups will come together in a closed-door event, which will be streamed by live.

Meanwhile, an afternoon conference will also be held at the 3rd floor of the Stephen Fuller Hall at the Asian Institute of Management in Makati from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and this one will be open to all. Speakers will include Tourism secretary Mon Jimenez, Rappler CEO Maria Ressa, communications secretary Ricky Carandang,  TV host Bianca Gonzales, and social media advocate Chris Lao.

Attendance is free, but only 550 tickets have been issued, and tickets have run out! Rappler will stream the event live from its homepage, and will offer videos for viewing after the event.
