PayrollHero was invited to pitch at the Startup Riot event Seattle along with 29 other startups. After the intense pitches and Q&A drilling by the judges, they announced that Payroll Hero was their choice as one of the “Top 5” startups at Startup Riot 2012 Seattle.
What exactly is Startup Riot? Startup Riot is a one day with thirty startups presenting answering questions for 3 minutes each. According to the description on their website, audience members participated in picking the top three winners. Keynote speaking at the Startup Riot Seattle 2012 included Andrew Hyde who started Ignite Boulder and TEDxBoulder and Jon Crawford, the founder and CEO of Storenvy.
PayrollHero, a consumer-friendly time, attendance, scheduling and payroll in the cloud for web and mobile, is currently operating from the Philippines and focuses on the SMEs and corporations in the Southeast Asia market. The team understands the real world pain point that they are solving, and this was both recognized by the various judges from Echelon and Startup Riot.
PayrollHero was born out of the team’s own need at their previous startup, where they tried to find a payroll, time and attendance solution for Southeast Asia, specifically the Philippines, but nothing seemed to have the complete feature set that they were looking for. Hence, PayrollHero was born, representing classic story of building a product out of a need to solve a hands on problem.
Shortly after the team won one of the Judges Choice at the Startup Riot Seattle, PayrollHero also announced that they will be opening a new engineering office in Whistler, Canada. The new office is part of the team’s expansion plan to continue attracting top talent.
