SMU’s Master of Science in Innovation (MI) offers a cross-disciplinary, practical innovation and entrepreneurship education through world-class faculty, regular engagement with thought-leading practitioners, an international residency at the reputable Babson College in the USA, and practical innovation projects. It is delivered to engage and grow Asia's next generation of innovation and entrepreneurial leaders in successfully tackling innovation challenges in various sectors, such as services or manufacturing.

Designed to be completed on either a full-time or part-time format, students will benefit from the expertise and experiences of a wide range of resource persons, such as SMU's outstanding and award-winning faculty, visiting professors, successful innovators, competent industry professionals, visionary entrepreneurs, and their peers. Pedagogical approaches include pre-course assignments, case analysis, team activities, e-learning, industry talks, site visits, and field trips. Students are also expected to complete a Capstone Innovation Project on a relevant topic of interest in order to hone their innovation skills and contribute to new value creation.

Criteria for admission
  • Bachelor's Degree (of any field)
  • Min. work experience – 3 years for part-time format, none for full-time format
  • Good SMU Admissions Test Score / GMAT / GRE Score
  • Good TOEFL / IELTS if degree was not taught in English

Does this programme provide visas?

  • The part-time format of the MI programme is open to all Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents (PR). It is also open to international students who hold a valid Employment Pass or Dependant’s Pass, and do not require a student visa.
  • International students without a valid Employment Pass or Dependant’s Pass must possess a valid Student Pass to be able to study at SMU. SMU will assist in the application of student passes for all international students coming to SMU.
