With the new year come, we hope, new projects, and possibly a need for places to work your ideas out.

You’re smart, you may even have a team, and would like to try it out without renting your own office. You’d also like to meet people, attend event and why not explore new ideas over a coffee. That’s what co-working spaces are made for, and here’s the 2013 benchmark to find yours.

Gathering this information is quite a challenge as Singapore is willing to become a hub for entrepreneurs and associated services bloom but the competition in the region is fierce, and high prices for space can make a co-working venture pivot to more sustainable activities.

We double checked with everyone of these co-working spaces about their plans, their communities, and their contact info. A few details:

  • Meeting rooms are closed meeting rooms where you can Skype or discuss in all confidentiality, we excluded “corners” that can help gather a team but not maintain strict privacy for professional or investor relationships
  • The prices are in Singapore Dollars and subject to changes, seasonal promotions from each of the landowners, so double check what the website tells you with a phone call to be sure

While you check the quantitative figures that can make you choose one or another for budget reasons, take also into account the community, the events and the locations of these venues.

Some will prefer the quiet atmosphere and the small and tight community of MakeSpace in Lavender, or the professional mindset of PlusConcept Space. You may also want to try to co-work in the CBD thanks Collective Works, or to associate your ideas with virtual office services at Hired Turf for instance. The hardcore tech crowd will always find a second home at the Plug-In or at HackerspaceSG, while social business and events goers should better locate more centrally at the Hub. And for prisoners of the corporate world who wish to moonlight on their projects, Coworking Singapore and [email protected] have dedicated offers.

Overall, we can only congratulate Singapore entrepreneurs community to provide such a diversity of good spots, many of which opened in the last 12 months. Help us keep the data to date by commenting, and all the best for your new projects!

Do check them out IRL, or through social media.
