One of the few things that Blackbox Research conducts is a monthly You Know Anot? sentiment meter. This meter aims to measure what Singaporeans are thinking. Each month, the team interviews Singaporeans from all walks of life and shares their findings publicly.
In their latest You Know Anot? series, the team looked at Singaporeans’ evolving news habits, including online comments. The interviews which are reflected on their latest infographic, shows some interesting findings:
In May, it was not the Hougang by-election that most captured attention, but rather, Singaporeans were more interested in other sensationalized news such as men who were charged in underage prostitution scandals. The interviews also revealed that Singaporeans do not always trust what they read, and in terms of consumer trusts, Yahoo! Singapore News is on par with mainstream news site Channel News Asia. About 82% of Singaporeans do not post comments online.
