StartupRootsSG #2: Tales to be shared by two veterans, from startups to IPO
In the second round of the same event, StartupRootsSG#2 will see David Leong and Shirley Wong share their startup and IPO experiences.By Jacky Yap 16 Jul, 2012
To be held on 18th July, the event seeks to address the growing gap between generations of Singapore’s startup scene. Veterans David Leong and Shirley Wong who had successfully exited their companies will be sharing their experiences of going through the entire startup lifecycle.
In 1999, David founded iPropertynet. iPropertynet was a property portal and application service provider selling proprietary software. iPropertynet secured in principle approval to list on the Mainboard of the Singapore Stock Exchange on October 2000. In December 2001, he founded ManpowerCorp International and subsequently formed PeopleWorldwide Consulting Private Limited in 2004. David is currently working on a stealth mode startup seeking to shake-up the HR industry in Asia.
In 1994, Shirley co-founded Frontline Technologies Corporation Ltd, and saw through its listing on the Singapore Exchange in March 2001. Under her stewardship, the company has grown from a team of 8 to 5000 workforce spread across 11 countries in Asia Pacific. The company was subsequently acquired by British Telecom Global Services, and Shirley oversaw the post-acquisition integration phase. Shirey is currently the Managing Partner of TNF Ventures.
