The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Singapore uses TecTiles for NFC rewards

Samsung and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Singapore provide rewards through Samsung TecTiles.

Two big names, Samsung and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL) in Singapore have come up with a reward system for its customers in partnership to place Samsung TecTiles, postage stamp sized Near Field Communications (NFC) stickers in all 51 outlets in Singapore. This is a first business implementation of TecTiles in Southeast Asia and CBTL customers get to enjoy a free drink upsize from 8 February to 7 March 2013. How to enjoy this promotion? CBTL customers simply need to tap their NFC-enabled Samsung GALAXY SIII or GALAXY Note II LTE to a Samsung TecTiles at the CBTL store. After that, customers only need to ‘Like’ the CBTL Facebook page for an instant drink upsize redemption. According to Irene Ng, Vice President of Marketing, Samsung Asia Pte Ltd, Samsung is supporting both retailers and consumers to improve the way mobile devices are used for everyday tasks. Not only that, CBTL can transform the way to engage with customers by using a variety of Samsung TecTiles uses that realize the potential of NFC technology.

Mr. Alvin Goo, General Manager of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Pte Ltd said that CBTL is honoured and proud to be leading the use of Samsung TecTiles to deliver top notch service for its customers. NFC technology isn’t new in Singapore and Samsung TecTiles utilizes the technology by allowing itself to automate and speed up commonly used smartphone functions. Users only need to use one simple tap on an NFC-enabled smartphone to a TecTile instead of the conventional multiple taps and scrolling through pages. Such example includes retailers putting up TecTiles to enable customers to check-in on Facebook or Foursquare, connect to Wi-Fi, or download content the moment they enter the store. Additionally, customers can use Samsung TecTiles to silent the phone, set the alarm by placing a programmed TecTile on your nightstand, activating specific settings when touched by your phone. Set an alarm time, enable the alarm and turn silent mode on by setting your device on the nightstand. Users can also dim the smartphone display when going to bed.

It is easy to use with the latest Samsung NFC-enabled smartphones such as GALAXY S III and GALAXY Note II LTE. Samsung Tectiles app is easily available for free download from Samsung Apps or Google Play and is available at most Samsung retailers at an RRP of SG$28 for a pack of five TecTiles.
