Life in Malaysia just got easier with the launch of personal assistant service Helpr. Founded by former Groupon APAC executives Ang Kok Seong and Eujean Lee and Wafiq Rodzuan, Helpr has officially launched its service after operating in beta mode since June.
“The idea of having a personal assistant is nothing new but we have taken this one step further by providing on-demand personal assistant services via your mobile phone. We want to be the go-to person when someone needs help and it must be simple and reliable,” said Ang.
The service that Helpr provides ranges from running errands, dispatch, delivery, food ordering, ticket booking, and even answering questions through research. To use the service, customers just have to send in their request via WhatsApp or SMS, then Helpr will proceed with their requests.
To ensure safety for users, Helpr is equipped with 128-bit encrypted HTTPS link via Whatsapp and SMS that allows users to safely input their payment details. It does not charge customers prior to completing any requests and always makes sure that they get their customers explicit approval before proceeding.
Helpr was only available through SMS during its beta mode, but it has since expanded to include email, Facebook Messenger, live chat via its website and WhatsApp. The startup is the first in Malaysia to offer personal assistant services through WhatsApp.
“At present, we are the only start up that provides personal assistant services via so many channels and we truly believe that this is one of our competitive advantages. We received a lot of feedback during our beta stage … one of the key outcomes from that was multi-channel communication,” said Ang.
Helpr plans to expand its service to the region by the end of 2015.
