Ctrip, China’s leading online travel agent (OTA) platform, is integrating with Singaporean startup BeMyGuest’s API starting today.

BeMyGuest is an online booking website that also helps suppliers of tours and activities within Asia push their listings to the travel market. The startup has raised US$3.54 million in three rounds of seed funding thus far.

“This is the first of many integrations with other Chinese partners that we are working on,” Blanca Menchaca, COO and Co-founder of BeMyGuest, told e27.

BeMyGuest will be featured in both the English and Chinese editions of Ctrip’s website and mobile app.

The service can supplement the next flight or hotel booked with a list of suggested tours and activities from BeMyGuest’s 10,000 offerings across 600 destinations. Ctrip users can, for example, pre-purchase tickets to the Great Wall of China after booking a flight to Beijing.

This is the first Asian activities and tours API to be fully integrated into Ctrip’s website and mobile app.

Ctrip is a leading provider of travel services — including accommodations, tours and flights — in China.

The company’s gross transaction value reached US$24.5 billion in 2014, according to Ctrip. Hotel bookings made through mobile make up more than 75 per cent of the online hotel reservation volume, it also said.

In 2009 and 2010, Ctrip invested in ezTravel in Taiwan and Wing On Travel in Hong Kong to expand into Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau.

China has been the world’s largest outbound market since 2012 with a total expenditure of US$129 billion in 2013.

There were an estimated 109 million trips abroad from China in 2014, partly because of the loosening of visa regulations for Chinese tourists, the China Tourism Academy said.
