European multimedia giant, Axel Springer AG announced expanding its e-commerce arm Visual Meta GmbH to India with the launch of its product comparison website, ShopAlike.in. Currently, Axel Springer AG owns classifieds portal Carwale.com in the country.
ShopAlike.in will allow users to compare the prices of various products, including apparels, shoes, bags, jewellery and home furnishing. Currently, the website offers product listing from portals such as Firstcry.com, Indiatimes.com and Myntra.com. ShopAlike offers shopfront format to the associated websites to display their catalogues.

In India, ShopAlike will compete with websites such as PriceBaba.com, Amazon’s Junglee.com, Reviews42.com and FindYogi.com.
Visual Meta was established in 2009 and runs portals across Europe under the brand names LadenZeile and ShopAlike. ShopAlike.in is its first expansion move outside Europe.
Both the websites are designed to resemble a shopping centre that offers variety from other brands and gives users a shopping experience from the comfort of their homes.
