Healthcare industry, with its complicated bureaucracy and costly nature, is hard to crack especially in the healthtech sector where the ecosystem is still quite early. However, though the industry might seem immune to disruption by innovators, a new crop of tech entrepreneurs is trying to change that.
As the third largest economy in Asia after China and India, with population of over 250 million people and more than 17,000 islands span over the archipelago country, Indonesia needs massive innovations in healthtech to solve its healthcare issues.
According to the Google - AT Kearney report, healthtech would emerge as top investment categories in the next few years. Halodoc’s acquisition by GO-JEK, Alodokter’s $7 million series B funding are examples of how the industry have developed in the past few years.
Will there be health tech startup joining the unicorn status in 2018? What are the investors’ thought on healthtech investment in the country? What do startups need to know if they want to join the force in building innovative health tech products?
