Rocket Internet-backed online marketplace for food delivery, foodpanda, today announced that it is partnering OpenRice, a Hong Kong-based online restaurant and food review platform with dealings in Asia.
The partnership is expected to integrate key elements of both portals to allow a more enhanced consumer experience.
According to an official statement, foodpanda will display food reviews from OpenRice on each restaurant profile to provide recommendations and user feedback. OpenRice, on the other hand, will display a foodpanda delivery widget, so users can order food directly from local restaurants.
Ralf Wenzel, Global Managing Director, foodpanda said, “We firmly believe that our partnership will help in creating more choice, more transparency and more convenience for our mutual customers.”

With over 22,000 restaurants around the globe, foodpanda users will be able to benefit from 1.6 million OpenRice reviews. “By combining our separate spheres of expertise and databases, especially in the food industry, we’re capitalising on a very important relationship,” said Jan Wong, Managing Director, OpenRice, who added, “We’re very excited to be working with foodpanda, which has seen exponential growth in Asia since it started in 2012. OpenRice believes in bettering the food and restaurant experience for anyone who loves food, and we can’t think of a better addition to our suite of partnerships.”
Singapore, India and Thailand will be the first three countries to see this partnership unfold. Subsequently, users in Malaysia, Taiwan and Indonesia will be able to enjoy cross-platform benefits in next phases.
