Despite only announcing its new web platform today, e-commerce company Carousell¬†—¬†previously only available through a mobile app — has already recorded over 140 million page views, Co-founder Quek Siu Rui said in an official release today.

The decision to launch a web platform was made to cater to demand for it and “removes barriers for some first-time sellers to try Carousell”, said Co-founder Marcus Tan.

Into its third year, the Singapore startup has sold eight million items, with lifestyle gadgets and beauty products amongst its most popular categories.

Daily-use items, however, are not the only goods finding their way onto Carousell to be sold.

Three weeks ago, a user listed a painting of a galloping horse by Chinese painter Xu Beihong. And its listed price? A cool S$3,000,000 (US$2.15 million).
