For those who are unfamiliar with Founders Drinks, we started it as a simple monthly community event for us to connect and hang out with our friends and also meet new people over casual drinks. Founders Drinks also features speakers to talk about a particular topic we think is interesting. Our topics from the past year covered a wide range of topics from mobile design to how startups should approach media.
Fast forward to today, Founders Drinks has grown regionally and we have held Founders Drinks in Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines together with our regional partners. While we have some exciting announcements with regards to Founders Drinks coming up, we are trying out something different this January. We are having a panel of speakers to talk about the Singapore startup ecosystem overview in 2013.

The panel consists of a startup, an investor as well as a corporate representative. We have invited Tudor Coman, co-founder of Flocations, Leslie Loh from Red Dot Ventures, as well as Pieter Kemps from Amazon Web Services to join us at the panel. Some of the topics that the panel will be tackling include:
- What went right and wrong in the local startup ecosystem in 2012
- Should startups focus on the regional market or their own local market? How should they go about doing it?
- What worries each party most about the local ecosystem?
- Will Singapore still remain as the startup hub for Southeast Asia?
To kickstart our Founders Drinks for the year too, Red Dot Ventures will be buying drinks and some food for our attendees.

On another related note, the NICF-Diploma in Infocomm Sales and Marketing is being offered by Lithan Hall Academy, the sister company of Red Dot Ventures, in a bid to provide the local startup ecosystem with the necessary sales and marketing talent. The 12 months part-time course will see the programme candidates being attached to real startups to learn what it is to drive marketing, sales, business development and product management roles within a high-tech startup.
