PT Pos Indonesia has recently launched its own e-commerce business known as PlazaPos in line with its 266th anniversary. PT Pos is a shipping and logistic company in Indonesia, and PlazaPos is a collaboration with ConnectingLife Singapore to present to consumers some imported high end products, gadgets as well as local products.

Since its inception in December 12, 2012, PlazaPos is still in the process of computer procurement in the post office and enhancing its security system, says PT Pos Indonesia President I Ketut Mardjana. He further adds that this site caters to all, including those who are Internet illiterate, as they can also place orders at the post office and order through the officers in charge. No doubt this extra customer service adds to the increased profit potential by PT Pos in this e-commerce business.

What’s more interesting is that the products displayed in PlazaPos have no hidden charges, and extra payment is only on postage fees. This means PT Pos Indonesia has become a legitimate export-import distributor. Therefore, it comes as no surprise to find branded goods, such as women’s handbag priced at INR 20M (US$208) or men’s branded watch at INR 100M (US$103USD). Very economical indeed!

As of writing, PlazaPos is currently covering imported products and gadgets. Local products have yet to hit the online store, but I’m sure we won’t be disappointed. Personally, I have checked out the website and it’s quite impressive in terms of presentation and the products offered. Some of the high end brands include Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren, Guess, Coach and DKNY, among others.

PlazaPos guaratees delivery to destination, which takes up about 21 working days except during festive seasons such as Christmas or Lunar New Year, which can result in longer delivery times. Needless to say, product orders during the festive seasons usually peak, and in order to ensure smooth delivery, meticulous preparation is needed for every order. PlazaPos accepts Mastercard and Visa.

Pt Pos Indonesia has been operating for 266 years and the breakthrough in its launching of an e-commerce website should be appreciated. It comes as no surprise that PT Pos has decided to set up their own store, as it is a logistics company. Their move has perhaps inspired other logistics and shipping companies to set up their own e-commerce sites.
